MIA 3 April 1938 at Gandesa; Reportedly committed suicide rather than be captured; In an interview with the Regina Leader-Post in 1984, Marchuk's fellow Mac Pap and friend from Regina, Bill Beeching, said that Marchuk was captured and executed by the Nationalists after he disabled a tank that was inflicting Republican casualties with a bomb at close quarters
