Istvan "Steve" Kovacs was a Hungarian Canadian born in Romania. He spoke 5 languages, and served as a mechanic and driver in the Rakosi Battalion and the Mackenzie Papineau Battalion. He was wounded in action twice, but survived to serve in World War II. He was an active member of the Mac Pap Veterans Association after the war. See Record
